What's the difference between a magical entertainer and a magician?
A magician does magic tricks. Our shows focus on entertainment through magic. This is why we use the term magical entertainer. We present amazing feats of magic in combination with engaging stories, audience participation, and family-friendly comedy. Gasps of amazement separated by gales of laughter are common to our audiences.

"The magic was creative and professional. He left everyone happy and puzzled." - Ryan G., Charleston

"Mr. Bontjes is very talented. He made me say to myself, 'How did he do that'!!" -Sharon R., Sidell

Isn't magic just for kids?
Absolutely not! Audiences of all ages can enjoy the wonder of magic, the joy of believing, for a short time, that anything is possible. The family-friendly and entertaining presentation style of Mr. Bontjes is the perfect choice for entertaining the young, the young-at-heart, and everyone in between.

"I was concerned about entertaining the wide range of ages of the guests at my party. Your show was the perfect solution!" -Lana L., Georgetown

Why hire a magician, rather than a clown, character or other entertainer?
Clowns can make many children (and even quite a few adults) uncomfortable. Their make-up is designed to be viewed from a distance and can be somewhat unnerving for some when viewed close up. Characters can also be intimidating when viewed close up and can rarely do more than provide a photo opportunity for a few guests at a time. Most other entertainers (singers, dancers, jugglers, comedians, etc.) cannot tailor their performances to fit your needs, need large amounts of equipment or space, and/or do not involve the audience in the entertainment. A magician can present entertainment tailored to your situation/event, can entertain any number of people at once, and can involve them all without intimidating while still providing photo opportunities.

"The whole audience was involved!" - Paula S., Catlin

"Your show was so entertaining! We were rolling [with laughter] the whole time!" -Amy M., Westville

Is your show expensive?
The saying "you get what you pay for" is true. Our shows are not "cheap," but neither is the entertainment. Rates will vary based on factors such as the type of entertainment, the length of the performance, the size of the audience and the distance of travel. Rates are commensurate with high quality, experienced entertainers in similar areas. Remember: Quality entertainment is not expensive, it's priceless.

"Exceptional value!" - Eric J., Westville

How early should I book a show?
The earlier the better. Although we have been called at the last minute and can sometimes help, shows are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. The sooner you call, the better the chance that we will be available to entertain at your event.

"Mr. Bontjes totally exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend Mr. Bontjes to anyone who is in the market for what is a truly professional, highly entertaining show." -Eric J., Westville

How much space do you need?
More space is better, but the stage show is extremely adaptable to almost any area. A minimum space of six feet wide by four feet deep with the audience three to four feet from the performance area is enough if your group is small.
Close-up performances simply need enough room for Mr. Bontjes and the audience to sit. Table-to-table magic requires only enough space for Mr. Bontjes to move between tables. Walk-around magic requires no extra space at all.

"Great that you are well prepared and fully epuipped." -Kevin J., Danville

How long are the performances?
We can tailor our performances to any length necessary to fit your needs. Stage and close-up shows generally run 30 to 45 minutes. Walk-around and table-to-table can run as long as necessary to entertain all your guests.

"He adjusted his show to fit our group." - Steve C., Perrysville

How do you dress for the performances?
We dress professionally for all performances and appropriately for the occasion, from the less formal to black tie. We do not dress in costumes.

"Very professional!" - Steve C., Perrysville

Do you use live animals or dangerous items in your show?
Because a live animal may occasionally make guests uncomfortable, nip or bite a guest, or soil the performance area. Because of this, we do not use them in our shows. We also avoid the use of dangerous items because of the possibility of accidental injury to a guest or damage to the performance area. Our top priority is the safety and enjoyment of you and your guests.

"Professional all around - from first contact to the show. Great that you are well prepared and fully epuipped." -Kevin J., Danville
